Castleberry • Atlanta, GA

Castleberry Hill was the name associated with a topographic rise that peaked along Walker Street between Fair and Stonewall Streets on land owned by Daniel Castleberry, an early Atlanta settler and possibly the winner of land lot 84 in the lottery of 1821.  In the late 1840s and early 1850s, the area was noted as being Atlanta's red-light district and a place where snake-oil salesmen peddled their wares, earning it the dubious nickname of “Snake Nation.”

Today Castleberry Hill boasts a resurgence of economic and residential activity. The copious warehouse space is perfect for artists and galleries.  Dozens of new residential developments in the area have brought restaurants and bars.  Being both a National Historic District and Atlanta Landmark District ensures the neighborhood will always retain its historic warehouse/commercial feel.
